The phases of the Moon reflect to us different aspects of ourselves. With this Thursday’s New Moon the lunar energy is Yin, so choose introspective activities over physically rigorous ones. Also, make sure to schedule in “me time” today.
In the phase of the New Moon, the Dark Moon, the present now is an auspicious time to release and renew. Check in and notice what you need to let go of – old ways of thinking, past patterns of shame, fear or regret – and renew your commitments to your deepest, most heart-felt desires.
To let go is to surrender. Surrendering is not giving up, but rather the most courageous act we can do. The mind wants to hold on to thoughts and emotions, and the ego wants to carry burdens of pain and resentment. During the time of the Full Moon, the ego is at its strongest and the energy is “it’s all about me.” With the New Moon however, we are empowered by Moon to see ourselves as part of the whole and to bow down to the Universe, the Highest Good. Let go of what no longer serves you, and Give Your Troubles the Divine. When we release the old, we create space for new life.
The New Moon is fertile ground for new beginnings – starting projects and committing to a 40 day practice (kriyas, meditations, writing, painting). In the phase of the Dark Moon, a new cycle begins. Sync up with the Moon and harness the power of intention. Ask yourself: what seeds do I wish to sew? Allow yourself to freely dream and envision the next phase of your life. What do you want for yourself in this next month? How do you feel, and what are you doing in 1 year, 3 years or 5 years? If you need some inspiration and guidance, I found very helpful Aykanna’s great vlog series, “Awaken Your Creative Power” to kindle the creative flame within you.
It’s time to get started. The pure uninfluenced energy of this New Moon in Gemini suggest us completely new ideas and multiple choices. The vibe is bright and curious. This Moon could have you asking “What’s this?” Check it out, but remember that a New Moon is only the first step. It’s dark and newly birthed. With a Mutable sign like Gemini, you’ll have to follow the facts to see if they make sense. Nonetheless, keep your eyes open. And be flexible. One answer will not suffice. There will be more than one path. The issue may be complicated, with shifting priorities.
Trust that your presence alone makes a difference in other peoples’ lives. Your energy makes a difference in every situation. Appreciate your relationships and honor the interconnectedness of life – we are a living, breathing web! Feel the love that is surrounding you and open your heart to receive the love from others, and from the Universe. Your love, courage, and strength, along with your gifts, smile, and heart song, is unique to this world – and oh, so beautiful! Give your love away to receive more love. Be the endless well of love and light that you are!
New Moon Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Circle
The New Moon is day one of the moon cycle and on this day our glands are at a low ebb, as is our energy. Coming into balance with the cylces of the moon enhances the divine feminine Goddess energy within us all. Yogic science teaches us that this is a good time to do yoga and meditation to focus on positivity, the moon calls us to pause, rest and focus inwardly. This is a great time for new beginnings, so let’s to plan the seeds of new intention in our lives.
Doing it together in a women circle will multiplies the effects. I have set my intention to join a 11 wild women together to create a powerful healing meditation circle.
The influence of a new moon lasts for two weeks up to the next Full moon which is the time to harvest those intentions. After the New Moon the moon is ‘waxing’ or growing until the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centres (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into our lives or to accelerate the progress of our special projects. The lunar energy of this period is very healing and can be channeled on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual.
The teachings of Yogi Bhajan have taught us how to heal ourselves and other people through the power of presence and stillness through the meditative mind. These techniques can activate our glandular systems or guardians of health and allow us to project our healing energy towards others.
Come along this Thursday at 6:30 pm to create our New Moon Intention together in a women circle. We’ll practice the Kundalini Yoga Kriya for Creativity and deep work on our Fith Chakra for Communication and Truth. Then we’ll vibrate a Healing Mantra together for 31 minutes.
See you on the mat,
